Learn the fundamentals of photography and how to use your digital camera with classroom demos and hands on practice. Instructor Joe Edkin will provide instruction and coaching as you practice your skills in the library and outside in the nearby parks. All skill levels welcome. Bring your own camera or cell phone. A limited number of cameras may be available to use during class.
The photography group will meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month

About the Group:
Photography is a fun and creative pursuit for all ages, whether you use a high-end DSLR, a point and shoot camera, a cell phone, or an old-school film camera. The Steele Photography Group is a meeting place for photography enthusiasts of all skill levels to share their pictures and learn new skills. Led by Joe Edkin, a photographer with over 40 years of experience, each gathering will feature a discussion of a specific technical or creative aspect of photography, a hands on demo, and an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share their work. Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras, but it is not a requirement.

Michael Keene. The program explores the audacious relocation scheme
which operated between 1854 and 1929, when an estimated 250,000 orphaned
or abandoned children were transported west by train and placed in
foster homes, mostly in rural mid-western areas, though there were
several local placements. The premise now seems incredible, but it
developed in response to a crisis in care for homeless children. Their
stories are incredibly haunting and poignant. Michael Keene will be available online after the viewing for questions.

shortcuts for cutting letters from paper. We’ll start with traditional

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Harrison Ford reprises his role as archaeologist and adventurer in this 5th instalment of the action adventure franchise. In 1944, Indiana Jones and Basil Shaw (Toby Jones) cross paths with Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a Nazi scientist seeking both halves of the Archimedes Dial which, if whole, gives its wielder power over space and time. 25 years later, Jones is being forced into retirement, while Voller is working for NASA under an assumed name. Pick up your "undressed" paper turkey at Van Etten library. Dress your turkey however you want and bring it back to be displayed on our Turkey Wall of Fame before November 30, 2024!
