District Wide Calendar of Events

Drawing for Painters 2: We will work on skills of drawing relevant to good painting. The focus will be on balancing areas of light, dark and mid-tones. Value (lights and darks) can be used to create the illusion of light, to model forms and to create emphasis. 

 

7th-12 graders! work on your own existing cosplay or start a new project together.  Teens help hand in hand as needed with projects. 

Bring your own supplies & project, OR...use our odds & ends of fabric, fur, craft supplies, cardboard, acrylic paint, and random items plus  duct tape, glue, fabric glue, & a sewing machine.

Best for ages 2+. Kid's Area.

7th-12th graders:  curious about acting?  Interested in writing a play?  Hang out with performer, writer Tim Collins and learn acting skills, put on a modern take of Romeo & Juliet (selfies & social media anyone?), and/or collaborate with other teens to write and develop other plays to perform in 2024!

Thursday sessions: playwriting

Come to both, or just one series, depending on your interests!

Beginners absolutely welcome!  Tim makes everything fun and creates a safe space to try out new skills. :-)

T.A.L.E will run throughout 2024, with different plays performed throughout the year.

You can create displays, decorate the teen area, suggest books and manga for us to order, help set up and clean up for after hours events, and more! 

We have fun, eat snacks, and sometimes help out at community library events!

We need YOU to make your teen space reflect your interests and needs!

Dungeons & Dragons for Teens! 

The Adventure awaits! Join the Big Flats Teen D&D Group for a exciting and immersive role-playing game experience. You'll create a character and join your friends and peers in an epic exploration of a fantasy realm, populated with mighty wizards, daring rogues, magical beasts, and arcane mysteries. Dungeon Master Tim has over twenty years of experience running fantastical adventures; join the party and get ready for some serious dungeon crawling! These game sessions are ideal for those new to D&D as well as experienced players. 

Teen Deegan leads an additional session of D&D for teens.

About the Group:

Photography is a fun and creative pursuit for all ages, whether you use a high-end DSLR, a point and shoot camera, a cell phone, or an old-school film camera.  The Steele Photography Group is a meeting place for photography enthusiasts of all skill levels to share their pictures and learn new skills.  Led by Joe Edkin, a photographer with over 40 years of experience, each gathering will feature a discussion of a specific technical or creative aspect of photography, a hands on demo, and an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share their work.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras, but it is not a requirement.
