In this presentation, Ron demonstrates how to research black sheep ancestors, those relatives who might be difficult to research for any one of a number of different reasons. Ron talks about using ‘standard’ genealogical records (census, vital records, city directories, etc., but also talks about other specific records available only for those who broke the law or came close to doing so. Specific recommendations will be given regarding the methodology of researching such characters.

Join us for our 2021 "Artful Letters" Series with Wynn Yarrow, consisting of 12 workshops designed to connect people through the old-fashioned art of letter writing, with a twist. All of the letters will include art, either through illustration or sculptural format. Classes will take place on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm via Zoom and a limited number of art kits will be available to pick up at Steele Memorial Library (registration is required).

September - "The Art of Mind Wandering"
Do you ever wonder what someone else is thinking?  In this project, little openings reveal parts of the pictorial brain and what they think.  Each turning of a page reveals more thoughts.  What are you thinking today?

This workshop will be conducted via Zoom. Registration is required. Please email lewisjm@stls.org for the Zoom link and to arrange for pickup of art materials before the class.

If you are unable to pick up a kit, you will need:

Heavyweight paper, drawing tools or decorative paper, scissors and glue stick.

This class is open to adults and teens (ages 12+).
